Jennifer Logan Armstrong,
Jennifer is a Licensed Special Clinical Social Worker who received her Master in Social Work from Washburn University in Topeka, KS, and her undergraduate in sociology from Biola University in Southern California. She has spent recent years as a therapist and Program Director at HopeNet, Inc., a non-profit agency that works with those in crisis here in Wichita.
Jennifer has her EMDRIA certification in EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and is an EMDRIA consultant in training through EMDR Consulting, LLC. EMDR is a comprehensive approach to therapy that integrates elements of psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, experiential, and body-centered therapies to maximize treatment effects. Jennifer is currently completing her intermediate year of training through the SOMATIC EXPERIENCING® TRAUMA INSTITUTE. SE™ is a 3 year intensive training that provides a theoretical framework for understanding and addressing trauma physiology.
Jennifer recognizes that the very fact that we are human means that we have at one time or another experienced a “trauma”. These “traumas” can be large or small disturbances and can distort one’s understanding, experiences, behaviors, and relationships. Jennifer’s therapeutic approach will assist in decreasing these disturbances and distortions which will lead to one’s increased capacity for clarity, direction and alignment for a purpose driven life. Jennifer’s faith informs her that this “purpose driven life” is found in a relationship first with God and then in relationship with others.
Jennifer works with individuals, couples and families to help navigate difficult challenges that are interfering with daily lives and relationships. She desires to help her clients find relief from anxiety or depression, recovery from traumatic events and break free from destructive patterns. Through this work she hopes to increase resiliency and enhance healthy relationships.
In addition to her role as a therapist, Jennifer enjoys being a mom to her three daughters, reading and learning, and dreaming of traveling the world!
