Shelly is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Shelly earned her Master of Science degree in Family Therapy from Friends University where she was awarded the Sheldon Louthan Award for Outstanding Graduate Student in Family Therapy.
Shelly works with couples, families, and individuals and especially enjoys working with clients in the areas of relationship enhancement, conflict resolution, depression, anxiety, life transitions, marriage and parenting concerns, grief and loss, healing from trauma, self-identity development, and spiritual formation. Shelly is certified in Prepare/Enrich, a premarital and marriage enhancement program.
Believing that hope is powerful, Shelly seeks to help her clients find hope in the midst of life’s challenges and difficulties. She offers grace and compassion as she works with clients to resolve their concerns. She operates from a strengths-based perspective, helping her clients to identify and utilize the strengths they already possess to navigate through their struggles. She gives careful consideration to her clients concerns and works to develop a customized plan for achieving the growth they desire.
Shelly has the ability to see problems from a variety of perspectives. In working with couples and families, Shelly is able to give consideration to each individual while validating their concerns and helping them communicate their concerns effectively.
Shelly has several years of experience as a Certified Parent Educator, helping parents of young children develop the skills and tools they need to be most effective in their parenting role. She is married and is the mother of three children.
