Steve Edwards

 

Steve is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker who graduated in the Advanced Standing program from the School of Social Welfare at the University of Kansas with a Master of Social Worker degree. Steve has an undergraduate degree from Wichita State University in Social Work. He has four decades of experience in working with children and families, individuals, and groups. Steve and his wife Julie, who are avid runners, share four adult children and five grandchildren.

 

Steve has previously served as the Clinical Director at Horizons Mental Health Center, as a Counselor at Samaritan Counseling Center, and is currently serving as the Director of Family Preservation Services at Saint Francis Community Services. Steve attended specialized training at the Collaborative Problem Solving Institute in Boston MA with Drs. Ross Greene and Stuart Ablon. He has extensive experience working with child and adolescent grief issues, family disruption, adoption, childhood trauma–including sexual abuse, and with children who have emotional and behavioral disturbance. In addition, Steve has conducted many workshops and has created numerous training materials. Steve also has an interest in supporting men as they lead their family, maintain a work life, and establish their own purpose.

 

Steve utilizes a Solution-Focused and Cognitive-Behavioral approach, seeing the individual in a holistic way operating within larger systems of the family and community. As a follower of Jesus, each individual is seen as being a unique creation that is complete only when based on a solid spiritual foundation.
